What is medical astrology?

Medical astrology is the practice of interpreting the natal chart for constitutional patterns — what body systems may run hot or cold, where stress tends to land, and when the chart suggests vulnerability or recovery windows. It is the OLDEST branch of Western astrology. From Hippocrates onward, physicians used the natal chart and lunar cycles as part of clinical reasoning.

It is NOT diagnostic medicine. No reputable medical astrologer claims to diagnose disease, prescribe treatment, or replace clinical care. What they offer is a constitutional and timing lens that some clients find useful alongside their medical team.

Who is medical astrology for?

People who get the most from a medical astrology reading tend to share a profile: they already have a medical team and aren't looking for an alternative; they're managing a chronic pattern (autoimmune, hormonal, digestive) and want a wider lens; they have a working relationship with complementary modalities (nutrition, herbalism, acupuncture).

It is usually NOT the right call for acute illness, undiagnosed symptoms, or anyone seeking to avoid clinical care.

How to choose a qualified medical astrologer

Medical astrology is the most credential-thin specialty in astrology — there is no single licensing body. Quality signals to look for: formal medical astrology training (Judith Hill, Eileen Nauman, Lee Lehman curricula); parallel clinical training (LAc, RN, ND, RDN); a general astrology credential like ISAR CAP; and transparent scope — they tell you up front what they do and don't do.

Walk away from anyone who diagnoses, names diseases, prescribes, or tells you to stop a medication. Walk away from health claims of cure rates or "100% accuracy."
